Vegas Loop Expands to Chinatown

Las Vegas’ transportation landscape is undergoing another major change. The Boring Company’s Vegas Loop is expected to expand beyond the Strip and into Chinatown. Clark County recently approved plans for 19 new Vegas Loop stations, including four stations planned for the Chinatown area, drawing attention from local businesses and residents.
For a city heavily dependent on automobiles, expanding underground transportation means more than simply adding another way to get around. It could change how tourists move through the city, improve access to restaurants, shopping centers, hotels, and businesses, and potentially influence commercial development and property values. The expansion is especially significant for the Asian community, as Chinatown has become a major hub for Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, and other Asian businesses and cultures.
A New Way to Move Underground
Vegas Loop uses underground tunnels to transport passengers in electric vehicles, offering an alternative to traditional surface roads. The system, which began around the Las Vegas Convention Center, is expanding to major destinations including Resorts World, Westgate, and Encore.
The Boring Company’s long-term vision is to create an extensive underground transportation network connecting major parts of Las Vegas, including the Strip, airport, and downtown.
Why Chinatown?
Las Vegas Chinatown is no longer simply a destination for Chinese food. Centered around Spring Mountain Road, the area has grown into a diverse Asian business district featuring Korean restaurants and cafés, Asian markets, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese restaurants, bakeries, beauty shops, and entertainment venues.
Yet accessibility remains a challenge. Although Chinatown is relatively close to the Strip, visitors often rely on cars, taxis, or rideshare services, while parking can also be an issue. The planned Vegas Loop stations could help address some of these challenges. With four stations planned in Chinatown, the new transportation network could bring more visitors into the area and create additional foot traffic for local restaurants, shops, and businesses.
New Opportunities for Korean Businesses
The project could also create new opportunities for Korean businesses. Chinatown is one of the key centers of Las Vegas’ growing Asian business community, and tourists are increasingly exploring local restaurants, culture, and shopping beyond the major resorts and casinos. Better transportation access could make it easier for visitors to discover Korean and other Asian businesses in the area.
Potential Impact on Real Estate
Transportation expansion could also influence the local real estate market. Improved accessibility and increased foot traffic can encourage commercial development and attract new businesses.
However, it is still too early to predict the full impact of Vegas Loop. The approved stations will still require tunnel construction, additional permits, and operational preparations, and no immediate opening date has been established.
Still, one thing is clear: a new transportation network that began beneath the heart of Las Vegas is now moving toward one of the city’s most important Asian communities—Chinatown. Its expansion could reshape not only the way people move through Las Vegas, but also the future of the neighborhood itself.
