네바다 주에서는 토지의 거의 87%가 연방 정부 소유이므로, 네바다 주민이 누릴 수 있는 땅이 약 6천만 에이커에 달한다는 낭만적인 상상도 가능하다. 네바다 주의 대부분의 공공 토지는 캠핑이 허용된다. 편의시설 없이 지정된 캠핑장을 벗어나 자연 속에서 지내는 것은 무료로 일상에서 벗어날 수 있는 좋은 방법일 수 있다. 고요함, 아름다운 풍경, 별이 빛나는 밤하늘, 푸른 녹음, 그리고 야생 동물을 만날 수 있다. 진정한 캠퍼들이 원하는 이색적인 캠핑 그라운드를 찾아가 본다.

Because nearly 87% of Nevada’s land is federally owned, residents can imagine having access to nearly 60 million acres of open space. Much of this public land allows camping, and staying outside designated campgrounds—without amenities—offers a free and refreshing escape into nature.

*Lovell Canyon(Blue Diamond) - 러벨 캐년 

많은 관광객들이 유명한 Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area나 Mt. Charleston만 찾지만, 러벨 캐니언은 상대적으로 덜 알려져 있어 조용한 자연 캠핑을 원하는 사람들에게 최고의 장소로 꼽힌다. 바람 소리와 새소리가 들리는 협곡, 그리고 사막 하늘을 가득 채운 별빛 그리고 짙은 소나무 숲과 사막의 풍경을 감상할 수 있으며 겨울에는 눈 풍경도 장관이다. 

마운틴 엣지에서 불과 20분 거리이며, 편의시설이 없기 때문에 물과 먹거리는 꼼꼼하게 준비해야 한다. 핸드폰은 사용 가능하다. 무료로 캠핑을 즐길 수 있는데, 비포장 도로 인근에 텐트를 치면 바로 캠핑장이다. RV도 가능. 모닥불은 금지되므로 반드시 휴대용 버너를 준비한다. 

하이킹 코스:

Lovell Canyon Trail - 약 2.5~3마일 코스로 협곡을 따라 완만하게 이어지는 트레일로 소나무 숲을 따라 여유있게 하이킹할 수 있다. 아침 산책 코스로 좋다. 

Mount Wilson Route - 러벨 캐년에서 가장 유명한 산 정상 하이킹. 약 16~18마일 왕복 코스로 난이도는 높은 편이다. 정상에서 모하비 사막을 한 눈에 바라볼 수 있다. 

While many visitors head to popular spots like Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or Mount Charleston, Lovell Canyon remains relatively unknown, making it ideal for those seeking quiet nature camping. The canyon offers peaceful surroundings, star-filled desert skies, and a unique landscape where pine forests meet the Mojave Desert. In winter, the area can even be covered in snow.

Located about 20 minutes from the Mountain’s Edge area, Lovell Canyon has no facilities, so campers should bring sufficient water and food. Cell phone service is generally available.

Camping is free through dispersed camping. You can set up a tent along dirt roads, and RVs are also allowed. Campfires are prohibited, so bring a portable camping stove.

Hiking Trails

Lovell Canyon Trail

A 2.5–3 mile easy trail that follows the canyon through pine forests—perfect for a relaxed morning hike.

Mount Wilson Route

A 16–18 mile round-trip challenging hike leading to the summit, offering sweeping views of the Mojave Desert.

Lovell Canyon Road 우회전 → 약 11마일 북쪽으로 올라가면 캠핑 및 트레일 지역 도착

*Mack’s Canyon - 맥스 캐년

라스베이거스에서 출발하면 도시 풍경이 빠르게 사라지고, 사막과 협곡 풍경이 이어지는 드라이브가 펼쳐진다. 특히 해질 무렵 협곡의 붉은 바위가 빛나는 모습은 사진 촬영 명소로도 알려져 있다. 붉은 사암 협곡과 사막 식물이 어우러진 풍경 속에서 자연 그대로의 캠핑 경험을 할 수 있는 장소로, 특히 별 관측과 오프로드 탐험을 좋아하는 사람들에게 인기가 있다. 

텐트나 트럭 짐칸을 이용한 캠핑을 즐길 수 있는 넓은 공간이 마련되어 있으며, 조용하고 한적한 분위기를 만끽할 수 있다. 캐니언 아래로 내려갈수록 지형은 더욱 험준해진다. 피크닉 장소와 등산로 입구도 곳곳에 있다. 

하이킹 코스:

Mack’s Canyon Trail - 가장 기본적인 협곡 하이킹 코스로 왕복 3~5마일로 협곡 바닥을 따라 걸으며 소나무 숲을 즐길 수 있다. 붉은 사암 절벽과 계곡의 전경이 아름답다. 

Mack’s Canyon Ridge Route - 협곡 능선을 따라 올라가는 하이킹 코스로 왕복 약 5~7마일 정도다. 난이도는 중간 정도. 협곡에서 능선으로 올라가는 코스이며 맑은 날에는 라이베이거스 시내도 볼 수 있다.

Mack’s Canyon Road 진입 → 비포장도로 약 4마일 이동하면 캠핑 지역 도착.

As you leave Las Vegas, the city quickly fades into desert and canyon scenery. At sunset, the red rock cliffs glow beautifully, making the area a popular spot for photography.

Surrounded by red sandstone canyons and desert vegetation, Mack’s Canyon offers a true back-to-nature camping experience and is especially popular for stargazing and off-road exploration.

The area provides wide open spaces for tent camping or truck-bed camping, with a quiet and secluded atmosphere. The terrain becomes more rugged deeper into the canyon, and there are several picnic areas and trailheads along the way.

Hiking Trails

Mack’s Canyon Trail

A basic canyon hike of about 3–5 miles round trip, following the canyon floor through pine trees with beautiful views of red sandstone cliffs and the valley.

Mack’s Canyon Ridge Route

A 5–7 mile round-trip hike of moderate difficulty that climbs from the canyon to the ridge. On clear days, hikers can even see Las Vegas in the distance.
